Today, I'm sharing a nature-inspired card that celebrates the beauty of botanical elements and the heartfelt sentiment, "Happiness blooms from within." Featuring the Love From Lizi Enjoy the Little Things stamp set from the February 2025 release, this project combines soft floral imagery, subtle sparkle, and a clean, impactful design. Let’s go step by step to create this floral beauty!
Supplies Used:
Stamp Set: Love From Lizi Enjoy the Little Things (February 2025 release)
Inks: Catherine Pooler dye inks in Cotton Candy, Martini, Cummerbund, and Serenade
Embellishments: Star Dust Stickles for glitter highlights and Spellbinders' Green Rhinestones
Cardstock: Taylored Expressions Eggplant (card base) and Granny Smith (matting)
Additional Supplies: Ranger Heavyweight Cardstock, foam tape, paintbrush, glass mat, water spray, and a scoreboard
Design Elements:
Botanical Border: The top and bottom edges of the card feature stamped floral images in a mix of vibrant spring colors, creating a whimsical, garden-like effect.
Sentiment: The sentiment "Happiness blooms from within" takes center stage in rich purple ink.
Splatter Effect: Light blue ink splatters add an airy, textured look to the background.
Finishing Touches: Glitter highlights on the floral elements and rhinestones scattered around the sentiment add subtle sparkle and dimension.
Layered Matting: A lime green mat layered over a deep purple card base ties the design together beautifully.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Prepare the Card Panel:
Trim a piece of Ranger Heavyweight Cardstock to 5.5" x 3".
Stamp the Botanical Images:
Using Catherine Pooler dye inks (Cotton Candy, Martini, Cummerbund, and Serenade), stamp the small floral images from the Enjoy the Little Things stamp set along the top and bottom edges of the panel.
Alternate colors and overlap flowers slightly for a natural, garden-inspired look.
Add the Sentiment:
Stamp the sentiment "Happiness blooms from within" in Serenade ink at the center of the panel.
Create the Splatter Effect:
Press the Cummerbund ink pad onto a glass mat, add a few drops of water, and mix with a paintbrush.
Tap the brush gently over the card panel to create soft blue splatters. Protect areas you want to keep clean with scrap paper if needed.
Apply Glitter Details:
Use Star Dust Stickles to add glitter to the tops of the stamped flowers. Apply a thin, even coat and set the panel aside to dry completely.
Prepare the Card Base and Matting:
Trim Taylored Expressions Eggplant cardstock to 6" x 7" and score at 3.5" along the 7" side to create a mini-slim card base. Fold and crease with a bone folder.
Trim Granny Smith cardstock to 5.75" x 3.25" and adhere to the center of the card base using foam tape.
Assemble the Card:
Once the stamped panel is dry, adhere it to the Granny Smith mat using foam tape.
Add Embellishments:
Finish the card by placing Spellbinders' Green Rhinestones around the sentiment for added dimension and shine.
Crafting Tips:
Ink Selection: Use a balance of bright and muted tones for small stamps to avoid overwhelming your design.
Controlled Splattering: Tap the paintbrush gently on your finger for subtle, even splatters. Use scrap paper to mask areas as needed.
Precise Glitter Application: Stickles with a fine tip make it easy to add sparkle to small details.
