Crafting Love: An Interactive Valentine's Day Card | featuring Love From Lizi

Happy New Year, crafters! I am beyond thrilled to be working with the Love From Lizi Design Team and sharing my project featuring products from the January 2025 release. This collection is full of crafting inspiration! Alongside the "My Favourite Person" stamp set, this release features the "To the Moon and Back" Card Kit, which perfectly coordinates with the stamp set I used. This kit includes a curated selection of papers, embellishments, and accents designed to help you create stunning love-themed cards.

Additionally, the release includes fun Galentine’s-themed products, perfect for celebrating the special friendships in your life. These items pair beautifully with the romantic designs, giving you endless possibilities for crafting heartfelt cards for all the loves in your life.

I couldn’t resist diving into the "My Favourite Person" stamp set for my card design. This adorable set is perfect for creating heartfelt Valentine’s Day or love-themed cards. What I love most about this set is its inclusivity—you can mix and match the characters to represent any relationship, making it perfect for creating love-themed cards for Valentine’s Day or celebrating special bonds year-round.

For my card, I wanted to capture the joy and warmth of love. Using the "My Favourite Person" stamp set, I created a playful yet romantic design featuring a couple surrounded by a bouquet of balloons.

But what makes this card extra special is its interactive element. When you pull up on the tab, it reveals the couple holding hands—a sweet surprise that adds an extra layer of charm to the design.

The characters were colored with alcohol markers, and I chose rich reds and pinks for the balloons to match the Valentine’s Day theme. I used a soft, cloudy background to frame the scene and added dimension with layered die cuts. The sentiment, "Together We Have It All," ties the design together beautifully.

Instructions:

  1. Start by cutting a piece of 80# cardstock to 4.25” x 5.5” to serve as the background panel.

  2. Using cloud stencils, position the first stencil towards the bottom of the cardstock. With a gray blending brush and your lightest gray ink, blend ink onto the top section of the stencil to form the first cloud layer. Repeat this step, adjusting the spacing between each cloud layer, and use progressively darker gray inks for each layer. The final layer should be the darkest gray. Alternatively, you can use fewer gray inks and apply more pressure during blending to create darker shades.

  3. Next, using the interactive pull tab die set, die-cut a notch at the top center of the cloud panel, and a vertical slit 0.5” from the bottom of the panel. Run the panel through your die-cutting machine and set it aside.

  4. Die-cut 2 pull tabs (one for extending the other), 2 sleeves, and the directional arrow from 110# red cardstock. Follow the instructions in the die set to assemble the pull tab mechanism behind your card panel.

  5. Cut a 4.25” x 1.25” piece of 110# white cardstock and use the cloud die to cut a cloud border from the top of the cardstock. Set this cloud die-cut aside.

  6. Using a stamp positioner tool and alcohol-marker friendly black ink, stamp the girl with legs, boy with legs, bouquet of balloons with seat, 2 single balloons, the letters x, o, x, o, and the sentiment “Together we have it all.”

  7. Carefully fussy cut the stamped images and sentiment with fine-tip scissors, leaving a small white border. Alternatively, you can use a scan and cut machine for this step, as I did for most of the images.

  8. Use shades of red and pink alcohol markers to color the balloons, the x, o, x, o letters, the girl’s bow, and her rosy cheeks.

  9. Add highlights to the balloons using a white gel pen for a shiny effect.

  10. Use shades of tan and brown alcohol markers to color the skin of the boy and girl, as well as the girl’s hair.

  11. Use shades of gray alcohol markers to color the boy and girl’s clothes and the boy’s hair.

  12. Attach the boy and girl to the seat of the balloon bouquet using liquid glue, then add the extra balloons and x, o, x, o letters to the bouquet. Once everything is in place, adhere the entire piece to the front of the pull tab (the part that sticks through the front of the card panel).

  13. Pop up the cloud die-cut at the bottom of the card panel using foam adhesive, making sure there’s space for the pull tab to move freely up and down.

  14. Use foam adhesive to pop up the sentiment in the lower left corner of the panel, positioning it on top of the die-cut cloud.

  15. Finish the card by lightly spraying glimmer spray for a sparkling effect and adhere with foam tape to a 4.25" x 5.5" red side-fold card base.

This project was such a joy to create, and I can’t wait to continue crafting with the fabulous products from Love From Lizi. Whether you’re celebrating your partner or creating something special for a significant other, the "My Favourite Person" stamp set has you covered.
