Creating the Ink Blended Background

The stunning ocean backdrop was created with Ranger Distress Oxide Inks, blending shades of blue for the water (Tumbled Glass & Mermaid Lagoon) and tan for the sand (Antique Linen & Vintage Photo). To add even more realism, I painted white acrylic paint across the water to mimic foamy waves crashing onto the shore. For extra texture, I used COPIC markers to add speckled details in the sand—this really makes the scene feel more organic and beachy! The "To The Beach" kit includes beautiful ocean-themed elements, and I knew this background would be the perfect foundation for my card.

Die Cutting for Added Interest

Once my background was complete, I used a wonky stitched rectangle die to cut my panel. This detail adds movement to the scene, complementing the organic look of the waves and sand. From my stash, I used a stitched fishtail banner die to create the sentiment tag—one of my favorite elements on this card!

The Star of the Show – Our Seagull Friend!

This adorable seagull, fish, and captain’s hat are part of the "To The Beach" stamp set included in the kit, and I loved bringing them to life with COPIC markers. I carefully stamped and cut them out using my Brother ScanNCut, making it easy to create layered, dimensional elements for the scene. The seagull has such a fun personality, and I love how his cheeky little fish snack adds to the coastal charm! To achieve a more realistic look, I decided to mask off the shirt from the original stamp, allowing the seagull to blend seamlessly into this beachy setting.

Sentiment & Embellishments

The "To The Beach" kit includes a variety of sentiments, but I wanted to customize mine—so I masked and combined multiple stamps to create “Aloha, Good Times!”. The stitched fishtail banner die-cut makes the sentiment pop, and I finished it off with a gold glitter bow for that extra tropical touch. The finishing details? Iridescent seashell embellishments, also from the kit, which catch the light beautifully and add to the coastal feel!

Final Assembly

With all my elements complete, I adhered everything to a white top-folding card base, using foam tape to add dimension and bring the scene to life.
